About this site

The Censes is an independently operated information site about human senses and product experience. It explains what published pages say about taste, smell and touch, and how packaging and materials can shape what people expect and perceive.

This site is not the Centre for the Study of the Senses, also styled the Center for the Study of the Senses, and it is not CenSes. It is not part of that centre, of any university, or of any research institute. It does not conduct studies, recruit people, run events, or give diagnosis or treatment advice.

Articles summarise pages that were read in the research library. They are general information, not this site's own research, and not medical or cosmetic-efficacy advice. Findings from a wine tasting page or a capping-machine page do not automatically apply to other products or to people outside that page's subject.

What the pages do

Articles are general information drawn from pages read in a research library. A number appears only when that page stated it, and only with the condition printed next to it. A wine-tasting volume is not a cosmetic test. A cap-torque guideline is not a measurement of how hard a person pulls on a pouch.

The site does not offer diagnosis, treatment or a claim that a cosmetic product is effective or safe. It does not recruit people for tests and it does not describe tests of its own.
